Judge OKs Krolicki trial in Las Vegas

A judge has decided that Nevada Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki and a top aide will be tried in Las Vegas on felony misappropriation of funds charges.

Clark County District Court Judge Valerie Adair issued an order today saying she found enough evidence to establish venue in southern Nevada for the trial now set to start Oct. 12.

Krolicki and his chief of staff, Kathryn Besser, are accused of mishandling millions of dollars in the Nevada College Savings Program.

Authorities say no money is missing from the fund, and both Krolicki and Besser are denying wrongdoing.

A Clark County grand jury indicted Krolicki and Besser in December on two counts of misappropriation and falsification of accounts by a public officer, and two counts of misappropriation by a treasurer.
