Why people feel threatened

EDITOR:

A letter to all those who support health care reform or socialized medicine.

The reason for this message is an attempt to enlighten you on why the anger at these town hall meetings.

When people (including animals) feel threatened they become defensive and sometimes displaying anger.

The people at these town hall meetings (including myself) feel very threatened because socialized medicine or socialized anything makes one a ward of the state (a dependent of the government).

When it comes to healthcare, I'm not willing to have the government make personal decisions on my behalf.

Even if the healthcare reform bill may not contain provisions as mentioned at this time, it's the threat that it will evolve that frightens.

Socialized medicine is a big threat to personal liberty; it places the government over the people.

How can you be a ward of the state and still claim to be free?

I hope this clears up the reason why freedom-loving people are attending these meetings and are rightfully upset.
