Henry William 'Bud' Berrum Jr.

Former Gardnerville resident and native Nevadan Henry William 'Bud' Berrum Jr., 78, died Oct. 25, 2009, in Ashland, Ore.

Born Aug. 19, 1931, in Reno, he was the son of Henry William Berrum Sr. He was raised in Carson Valley on the family ranch and graduated from Douglas County High School in 1949.

After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard and served on ships in the Pacific during the Korean War.

He married Phyllis D. Coon in 1961, and moved his family to Salem, Ore., in 1969, where he operated two service station businesses. In 1983 he divorced and relocated to Reno before eventually settling at the Corp Ranch in Ashland in 1989.

He is preceded in death by his sister Nevalyn Miller.

He is survived by daughter Stacey Berrum of Ashland; son and daughter-in-law Scott Berrum and Laura Lull of Hermosa Beach, Calif.; and friends Marsha MacCormak and John and Teresa Morris.

A service will be held at Mountain View Cemetery in Reno on 11 a.m. Nov. 21. Donations can be made to the Friends of the Animal Shelter at PO Box 92, Ashland, OR, 97520 or The VA SORCC General Patient Use Fund (Veterans Administration Domiciliary) at 8495 Crater Lake Hwy, White City, OR, 97503.
