Pau-Wa-Lu Players present "Usher," a teen comedy based on Edgar Allan Poe's "The Fall of the House of Usher," opening today at Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School.
"Usher," written by Flip Kobler and Cindy Marcus, is directed by Pau-Wa-Lu drama teacher Rich Garrett and features 24 students from the middle school.
The comedy features characters from bone-chilling Poe classics such as "The Cask of Amontillado," "The Tell-Tale Heart" and "Annabel Lee."
On a dark and stormy night, students on a field trip are forced to spend the night in the spooky house of Usher. But they're not alone. The spirits of Usher ancestors haunt the halls, cursed to stay trapped in the house forever, unless the last surviving Usher finds the will to truly live life.
Performances are 7 p.m. today and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School, 701 Long Valley Road in the Gardnerville Ranchos. Tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for students and seniors and are available at 265-6100 or rgarrett@dcsd.k12.nv.us
