Farewell, Linda Mo

EDITOR:

I would just like to relay to Linda (Monohan) that I will miss her columns in the paper (I never did get together with her to talk about my crested geckos). There were some columns that were not exciting to me, but mostly I really liked how she relayed the way of life in Carson Valley. I just feel she's such a down-to-life person that she would be a great neighbor to have. We've only been in the Valley eight years now but there are certain things that we really like in our new home and columns like Linda's is only one of them. I will add that I thought her thoughts on too much light is a very good point. While I sometimes miss our evening walks with the dogs which we did in the Bay Area, we will sacrifice that (as well as being able to do so during the day now that we're retired) as we do love being able to see all the wonderful stars here.

One son-in-law claimed that we must have more stars allotted to us here as he'd never seen so many back home - guess that's why they followed us over the hill. While most of our neighbors do have the small lights to guide us down the drives, we do have one that has very pretty globe-type lights which can be attractive - but not when they light up the whole street. It causes me to quickly close the blinds although I had to add heavy drapes to the guest room which faces the lights.

Happy retirement, Linda; I hope you enjoy all your free time.
