Volleyball: Douglas beat Wooster in four

The Douglas volleyball team picked up its eighth Sierra League win Tuesday night, defeating Wooster in four games, 25-16, 25-13, 26-28, 25-17 in Minden.

The win set up a senior night showdown with the Manogue Miners Thursday in Minden. The Tigers have been mathematically eliminated from the league title chase, and even from hosting a first-round playoff match, but they can affect Manogue's title hopes with a win on Thursday.

The Tigers cruised against Wooster, with the only hiccup coming in the third game with Douglas' starters on the bench.

Shannon Dugan (13 kills, 2 digs), Jourdan Burke (10 kills, two blocks, 19 service points, four aces and seven digs), Emily Garcia (seven kills, three blocks, three aces), Jackie Harper (four aces, 25 assists), Brenna White (seven kills, three digs), Christine DuPuis (six kills) and Mysta Townsell (16 digs) led a balanced team effort for Douglas.

The Tigers also got three kills and three digs from Rebecca Antti, 11 digs from Mia Townsell, a kill and two blocks from Erin Allison, two kills and an ace from Carly McCullough, three kills from Dani Trujillo, 13 assists and an ace from Hailey Scalfani, an block and a kill from Keely Latham and a dig and a service point from Nikki Chavez.
