Swimming: Nevada's Debaji named WAC diver of the week

DENVER - Boise State's Stephanie North and Nevada's Aniesa Debaji were named the Western Athletic Conference swimmer and diver of the week, respectively.


North, a sophomore from Klamath Falls, Ore. (Henley HS), helped lead the Broncos to their first-ever dual meet victory over a Pac-10 school in Saturday's 178-116 win versus Washington State. She won both the 50-yard freestyle (24.35) and 100 free (52.63), and was the anchor leg for the victorious 200 medley (1:45.90) and 400 free (3:29.84) relays. Boise State has opened the season with a 6-1 mark in dual meets.


Debaji, a sophomore from Edmonton, Canada (St. Francis Xavier HS), won both the 1- and 3-meter diving events in the Pack's 161-139 victory at UC Davis last Friday. Debaji scored 288.38 points on the 1-meter board and 318.00 points on the 3-meter.


Other swimmers nominated: senior Margaret Doolittle, Nevada.


Other divers nominated: sophomore Erin Lionberger, Boise State.
