Vehicle disappears after year in Walmart parking lot

A 65-year-old Gardnerville Ranchos man who said he'd been "storing" his disabled vehicle at the Walmart parking lot for a year reported the 17-year-old van missing.

The man told deputies he left the 1992 vehicle in the Walmart parking lot a year ago. He said the van was in running condition but lacked a battery, keys and license plates. He said the van had about one-third tank of gasoline.

The man said it appeared the van had been towed out of the parking lot on Sept. 18.

A Walmart employee said the store did not remove the vehicle from the parking lot.

The victim estimated the van was worth $1,200.
