LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The University of Nevada's women's golf team finished in 13th place at the 2009 Price's Give 'Em Five Invitational held Monday-Wednesday at the par 72, 6,193-yard New Mexico State University Golf Course in Las Cruces, N.M.
The Wolf Pack carded 48-over 912 (311-299-3002) to come in 13th. Idaho took first with a tournament total of seven-over 871 (296-287-288), a seven stroke advantage over UC-Irvine (294-290-294=878). San Diego followed in third by two strokes at 16-over 880 (300-295-285). Fresno State (298-297-299) and Baylor (303-294-297) tied for fourth carding 30-over 894.
Freshman Louise Yi (77-69-77=223) led the Wolf Pack and finished in a tie for 14th. Yi carded a career low of three-under 69 in Tuesday's round to match the 7th best individual round in school history. Sophomore Eugenia Guerra (75-75-74=224) followed Yi by one stroke to end in a tie for 23rd while sophomore Jamie Yam (80-76-73=229) tied for 46th. Juniors Lauren Hernandez (79-80-78=237) and Ana Patricia de la Maza (82-79-79=240) rounded out the Wolf Pack finishing in ties for 73rd and 81st.
San Diego's Christine Wong carded a three-under 69 in Wednesday's final round to capture individual medalist honors with a three-day total of ten-under 206 (69-68-69). Wong turned in a four-stroke victory over Idaho's Kayla Mortellaro (73-70-67=210).
The Price's Give 'Em Five Invitational marks the end of Nevada's fall season. The Wolf Pack will open its spring season at the Fresno State Lexus Classic at the Copper River Country Club in Fresno, Calif.
