Football: Nevada leads NCAA in rushing yards per game

RENO, Nev. (AP) - Nevada is now the top rushing football team in the nation.


The Wolf Pack are averaging 288.8 yards on the ground per game. Florida ranks second in the NCAA with 284.4


Nevada has amassed more than 900 yards rushing in just the last two games - 345 in Friday's 37-14 win over Louisiana Tech and a school-record 553 the week before in a 63-28 victory over UNLV.


The Wolf Pack, who are now 1-0 in the Western Athletic Conference and 2-3 overall, also lead the nation in yards per carry with an average of 6.84.


Via Taua is averaging 79 yards rushing per game, Luke Lippincott 78.6 and Colin Kaepernick 76.8.


Nevada also is leading the WAC and ranks eighth nationally in total offense with 475 yards per game.
