Capital City Arts Initiative's events:
Recycled Seconds Fashion Show and Benefit Party
Time: Friday, Oct. 16, 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Where: Classy Seconds, 411 Hot Springs Road, Carson City
Description:The evening includes gourmet hors d'oeuvres, a runway fashion show at 8 p.m. featuring Do It Yourself fashions from northern Nevada's young designers and artists in a glamorous Bohemian setting. A portion of the proceeds will go to support Advocates to End Domestic Violence. Tickets are on a voluntary sliding scale of between $25.-$250. per person or $50-$500 per couple. Students are $10. Recycled Seconds exhibition
Time: 9:00 am- 5:00 pm
Where: Capital City Arts Initiative Courthouse Gallery/Carson City Library
Description: The Recycled Seconds art show, features DIY (Do It Yourself) fashion from northern Nevada's young designers and artists. The exhibition will be at the Carson City Courthouse through January 8, 2010. The Recycled Seconds Off the Rack show will be on display in the lobby of the Carson City Library through October 31, 2009. For more information, call Sharon Rosse at 775-721-7424.

Description: Wendy Tremayne will discuss her Swap-O-Rama-Rama project in her Nevada Neighbors talk: The Maker as Revolutionary in Times of Commodified Culture.
Nevada Neighbors is part of Capital City Arts Initiative's signature series of illustrated talks on contemporary art practice in the West (and beyond) by curators, art historians, and artists.
