Girls' Tennis: Douglas advances to regional finals

The last time the Douglas High girls' tennis team lost a match, it was in the first round of the playoffs last year at McQueen High School.

The Tigers avenged that defeat Thursday afternoon, beating the Lancers 13-5 in Minden to advance to the Northern 4A Regional Championship final for the first time in school history.

Junior two-time defending regional champion Amelia Ritger recorded her 100th career victory in the first round, one of two wins for her on the day, while freshman Kari TenBroeck and senior Cesarina Ceglia skated through the day with clean sweeps.

The doubles teams of Jamie Lundergreen-Linsey Glass and Sarah and Emily Weaver each posted a pair of wins and the team of Zoe VanderByl-Rochelle Seymour posted the Tigers' final point in the match with a third-round victory.

Douglas will face Reno, 11-7 victors over Galena Thursday, at 3 p.m. Friday afternoon at the Caughlin Club in Reno.
