Nevada to hold National Anthem tryouts

RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada will hold tryouts for national anthem singers for this year's men's and women's basketball games on Wednesday, Oct. 14.


Anyone who has dreamed of singing the national anthem in front of thousands of Wolf Pack fans should call (775) 682-6961 to reserve a tryout time. Tryouts will be held from 5-6:30 p.m. that evening on the court at Lawlor Events Center.


Nevada is also looking for people with a background in music to serve as guest judges. Interested parties can call (775) 682-6961.


The Wolf Pack men's and women's basketball teams open the 2009-10 season in early November. The women's team plays its first exhibition game on Sunday, Nov. 1 against Cal State East Bay at Lawlor Events Center, while the men play at home on Tuesday, Nov. 10, taking on Chico State in an exhibition game. The women open the regular season on Friday, Nov. 13, playing host to Cal State Monterey Bay at 7 p.m., and the men take on Montana State on Saturday, Nov. 14 at Lawlor Events Center.
