David 'Jason' Woellner

A memorial service will be held at a later date for David "Jason" Woellner, 38, who died Sept. 27, 2009, at his home in Carson City surrounded by friends and family.

Born Oct. 27, 1970, in Lake Worth, Texas, to Edwin and Brooke Woellner, his family came to Genoa in 1972, where he grew up. He moved to Carson City in 1996.

Woellner's passion was his pleasure in cooking. He was a talented chef and worked as the sous chef at the Station Grill for 14 years.

Woellner was preceded in death by his father, Edwin, and his maternal grandparents, Frankie and Louis Schaffer and his paternal grandmother, Beryl Rainey.

He is survived by wife Deena; daughter Katie Lynn Woellner; mother Brooke Woellner of Genoa; brother John Woellner of Austin, Texas; paternal grandfather Brigadier Gen. Edwin D. Woellner; grandmother Susan Woellner of Phoenix, Ariz.; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
