GE Energy to send packages to troops

For the last six years, GE Energy in Minden has been providing care packages to American troops in Iraq, Kuwait and Afghanistan.

Each year the employees gather, donate and assemble gift boxes for soldiers stationed in those areas during the Christmas season. This year the task is larger than ever with more than 700 soldiers from Nevada being involved in the Middle East conflicts.

On Thursday, GE Energy employees in Minden will be putting together the 700 boxes to send to the troops with the help of some of Nevada's local soldiers and Nevada First Lady Dawn Gibbons. This is almost double the number from previous years and highlights the commitment of the sons and daughters of the people of Nevada serving the United States.

This year's mission include 700 individual care packages, for 500 Nevada soldiers in Afghanistan and 200 Nevada soldiers in Iraq and Kuwait.
