Teens jailed in alleged suicide prank

Three teens were jailed after they allegedly prank called a suicide hot line and pretended to shoot themselves.

Christian Alejandro Limon, 18, and Andrew Daniel Ortiz, 18, were each booked into the Carson City Jail on suspicion of misdemeanor disorderly conduct, filing a false police report, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and obstructing an investigation. A juvenile was also arrested and taken to juvenile detention.

According to the arrest report, a suicide hot line operator received a call about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday from a man saying he was going to shoot himself.

The call taker said the caller and several others could be heard screaming, then the operator heard "a loud bang noise."

"After she heard the loud bang, another male picked up the phone screaming and told the call taker his friend had just killed himself and now he was going to kill himself, too," the report states. The second caller began screaming and the line went dead.

The hot line operator traced the cell phone number to a Pebbleridge Drive address and called 911.

When officers went to the home there was no answer. After canvassing the area for about an hour, the call was cleared and the deputies returned to service.

Deputies returned to the home around 4 p.m. and found Ortiz, Limon and the juvenile.

"All three denied any involvement in the incident. Several lies later, (the juvenile) advised Andrew and Christian had used his cell phone to make a prank phone call," the report states.

When the three were questioned again, according to the report, "Andrew and Christian advised that (the juvenile) had made the call."

All three were taken into custody.

Seven deputies and one supervisor responded to the initial call, the report states.
