The R-C Morning Report

A public hearing to adopt a new water monthly service fee in Indian Hills from $6.39 to $24.16 will be held by the Indian Hills General Improvement District 6 p.m. tonight. The fee increase will help defray the cost of fixing the district's arsenic issues. I've heard from at least one resident who has been posting signs around the district in opposition to the fee. District board members meet in their offices on James Lee Park Road.

A 40-year-old Gardnerville man faces between one and three years in prison in district court this morning after admitting to a third charge of domestic battery. Under Nevada law, a third conviction mandates prison time. James Dew III violated probation in two convictions of the same offense by drinking. He is serving six months in Douglas County Jail. Under a plea deal, his prison time will be concurrent to the jail time.

It's forecast to be partly cloudy today with a high temperature of 55 degrees. The breeze will be 5-10 mph. The Weather Service is sticking to its guns that we'll see rain on Veterans Day.
