Gardnerville Elementary backpack program seeks help

Gardnerville Elementary School is seeking assistance with food or monetary donations to fill backpacks in their Backpack Buddies program.

Backpack Buddies is a national program which aims to provide nutritious meals for students in need. GES implemented a similar program last year. Their cafeteria provides breakfast and lunch while students are at school, but unfortunately, for some children, this is the only time they eat.

In the evenings and on the weekends, children continually go hungry.

The Backpack Buddies program is a way to provide meals for students at home. Without community support, the program cannot be successful.
