Sheriff's office launches redesigned Web site

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office has launched a new, redesigned Web site that includes a streaming community alert system.

Sheriff Ron Pierini said the community alert system is designed to keep residents aware of critical events or activities within Douglas County, for example, child abductions, natural disasters or major crimes.

The alert system displays scrolling information and allows anyone to subscribe to have the alerts automatically e-mailed to them.

"The new Web site provides a convenient portal for everyone with Internet service to immediately access important forms and information," Pierini said.

Information about the sheriff's office, its divisions, and special programs is presented in an easy-to-navigate format, the sheriff said.

Other features include "Most Wanted" information on the "In-the-News" page, frequently asked questions, biographies of the command staff, and images that have been placed throughout the site's 36 pages.
