Steven A. Barr Sr.

A memorial service is 2 p.m. Saturday at FitzHenry's Funeral Home in Minden for native Nevadan Steven A. Barr Sr., who died May 7, 2009, in Carson City.

Born Feb. 22, 1958, in Reno to James A. Barr and Mary Patricia Bradford, he graduated from Milliken High School in Long Beach, Calif.

He married Pamela C. Foughty in Long Beach. He lived in Lakewood, Calif. before moving to Gardnerville 15 years ago.

A senior correctional officer, he was a rangemaster, hostage negotiator, facility training officer, man tracker and search, emergency medical technician, search and rescue team member, K-9 handler, and had attained high weapons achievement. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Mayflower Society.

He enjoyed thrift store shopping, camping and lobbying.

Mr. Barr is preceded in death by stepfather Edmund Royall and grandmother Dorothy McKenzie.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years Pamela; daughter Meghan (Matthew) Hiatt; son Steven A. Barr Jr.; sisters Loralei Barr; sisters in-law Laura (Todd) Breaux, Colleen (Ed) Wick; brother-in-law Chris Foughty; two grandchildren and seven nephews and nieces.

Mr. Barr will be cremated and his ashes spread in Copper Canyon, Lake Havasu, Ariz.
