Middle school student arrested in drug case

A 13-year-old Johnson Lane boy was arrested at Carson Valley Middle School on Thursday with more than a half-ounce of marijuana and 25 red capsules authoritites are trying to identify.

A school administrator informed a deputy on campus that he'd been told the boy was carrying the drugs, according to Sgt. Jim Halsey of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office

Deputy Greg Shields contacted the boy and found the marijuana packaged into two separate bags.

He was booked through the Juvenile Probation Office for possession of a controlled substance for sale.

Halsey said the boy told investigators that the red capsules were pain pills he took from home. However, investigators said there were no identifying marks on the pills. They are testing the substance to discover what it was.
