To promote April as Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month, Family Support Council sponsors the Community Links Blue Ribbons for Kids event, April 23, at the Family Support Council, 1255 Waterloo Lane in Gardnerville.
Community members are encouraged to suggest ideas on how to prevent child abuse and neglect on a paper link, connected to form a chain representing joining of hands and hearts in support of children.
Just the making of the chain generates opportunities for discussions of family support and what can be done to prevent child abuse and neglect.
Displays posted in businesses during April will have information on the Community Links programs and on preventing abuse and neglect. Displays contain pre-cut links to use for sharing ideas.
