Mammoth plane crash victims identified

The names of the victims of a plane crash near Mammoth Lakes have been released by the Mono County Sheriff's Department.

Donald Alan Hall, 52, of Dallesport, Wash., and Sherril Dene Wilson, 54, of Turner, Ore., were identified as the victims of the crash that occurred in the Twin Lakes Area.

According to the Undersheriff Ralph Obenberger, the aircraft landed at Mammoth-Yosemite Airport to refuel on Wednesday afternoon.

After taking off at about 4:30 p.m. it was reported to be flying very low, and then tried to turn to leave the area, hit some trees and crashed.

Personnel from the Mono County Sheriff's Department, Mammoth Lakes Police Department, Mammoth Lakes Fire Department, Mono County Paramedics, and the Mono County Search and Rescue team responded to Twin Lakes and commenced a search for the downed aircraft. The aircraft was located above Twin Lakes Resort.

The aircraft was traveling from Phoenix en route to Washington.
