The R-C Morning Report

The prospect of getting a free radon testing kit prompted a traffic jam in Sheridan Acres on Wednesday night as 324 people crowded into the fire station to hear about the gas. Organizers gave away more than 250 kits, running out before everyone received one. There should be more available at the Cooperative Extension next week. They're giving them out until the end of February.

Meanwhile, the deadline has passed for Indian Hills to mitigate its arsenic levels. According to the Nevada Department of Environmental Protection, the district's three-year extension expired on Jan. 23, long before it will have a means to reduce its water from the 17 parts per billion it presently has to the 10 parts per billion required by the EPA. State officials will set a timeline for the district to comply.

Speaking of the elements, the weather today is more of the same with sunny skies and a high near 51 degrees. The weather for the next week will be back into the warm days and chilly nights, with highs in the 50s and lows in the teens and 20s. There's still no precipitation in sight.
