'Inkheart' party today at library

The Dragon Slayers, the Douglas County Public Library Teen Advisory Board, hosts an Inkheart celebration, 3:30 p.m. today, at the library, 1625 Library Lane, Minden. "Inkheart" and other books by Cornelia Funke featured in the free program for teens grades six through 12. The event includes games, pizza, soda and a chance to win tickets to the "Inkheart" movie.

The Inkheart celebration is sponsored by the Friends of the Douglas County Public Library, Ironwood Stadium Cinema 8 and the Dragon Slayers. Information, Maria, 782-9841 or douglas.lib.nv.us

Senior health fair

The Douglas County Senior Center's 10th annual Senior Health Fair is 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Shannon Ballroom of the Carson Valley Inn. Admission is free. For information, call the Douglas County Senior Center, 783-6455.


Concert series

The Carson Valley Arts Council presents world music group Kaweh, 7 p.m. Feb. 6, at the CVIC Hall, 1602 Esmeralda Ave., Minden. Doors open at 6 p.m., concert at 7 p.m. A $15 donation will be requested at the door. All proceeds benefit the Carson Valley Arts Council. Information, cvartscouncil.com or 782-8207.


Elks serve crab

The Minden-Douglas Elks annual crab feed is Feb. 20 at the CVIC Hall in Minden. Social hour starts at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 6:30 p.m. On the menu is fresh Dungeness crab, garlic bread and cole slaw. Shrimp cocktails on sale in the bar area. Steaks will be available by advanced notice only for those who don't want crab. Cost is $35 per person.
