A record number of people brought their treasures to the Genoa Antiques Show and appraisal clinic in the Genoa Town Hall on Saturday and Sunday.

"On Saturday we had lines going out the door of people who wanted appraisals and Sunday was very busy. It went very well," said event organizer and Antiques Plus owner Martha Williams.

Items at the semiannual antiques show were appraised for $5 per item with proceeds from the event benefiting the Carson Valley Pops Orchestra.

"We broke the all-time record for appraisals and this is the 28th year we've had the show," said Williams. "A lot of times we'd see items appraised at $10 or less but this time some really good things came through. The quality of the items people brought was a lot better than normal."

Collectibles included an 8-piece Tiffany desk set appraised at $5,000 and an 18-carat pocket watch appraised for $4,200.

The next antiques show and appraisal clinic is planned for July 11 and 12.
