Man sentenced in felony DUI

A Gardnerville man with several arrests for driving under the influence was sentenced to 10 years in prison for having his second felony.

Edmond Harm, 53, appeared in Douglas County District Court on Monday wearing the white stripes of a Lyon County prisoner, where he is serving a sentence for driving under the influence.

Harm was arrested after deputies received a report of someone drinking an alcoholic beverage while sitting in the drive-through of a Gardnerville financial institution on Aug. 21, 2008.

They located a vehicle matching the description of the report parked near Highway 395 and Gilman Avenue. While they were there, deputies witnessed Harm get into the vehicle and drive off. He was pulled over on Centerville Lane. Harm's blood alcohol content was .167, more than twice the legal limit of .08.

Harm had been arrested in Lyon County for driving under the influence on May 31, 2008.

"I'm sorry for what I've done," Harm said before being sentenced.

Judge Michael Gibbons said Harm would have to serve 26 months before he was eligible for parole. His sentence would be concurrent with one he's serving with the Lyon County felony.
