Antonio 'Tino' Arcos

A visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at Walton's Chapel of the Valley Funeral Home in Carson City for native Nevadan Antonio "Tino" Arcos, 23, who died Jan. 1, 2009. A funeral service is 11 a.m. Thursday.

Born Dec. 17, 1985, in Carson City, to Jose C. Arcos and Kristine Nevers Arcos, he attended school in Carson Valley. He played football for the Douglas Tigers and graduated from Douglas High School in 2005.

After graduating, he fought fires for the Bureau of Indian Affairs, worked construction, and recently received his certificate in bartending, which he wanted to pursue as a career.

Mr. Arcos' passion was the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, pine nut picking with the elders and woodcutting for the family.

He enjoyed doing these things with family and friends. Friends said he was always there for anyone who needed a hand or asked his advice.

He is survived by brothers, Jose M. Arcos and Raymond Nevers; sisters Antoinette and Olivia Arcos; nephews, J.J., Martin, Daniel; nieces Liliana and Leona; grandmother Justine Koos of Gardnerville; uncle John Koos; aunt Charlene Nevers Higuera. A member of the McDonald family, Mr. Arcos has four great aunts and three great uncles all of Gardnerville, and numerous cousins.
