Off-duty jailer faces battery charge in bar altercation

An off-duty El Dorado County correctional officer was charged with misdemeanor battery following an altercation Feb. 21 at Jethro's bar with a Douglas County deputy, also off-duty.

Terry Annette Simmons, 49, told East Fork Justice Jim EnEarl on Monday that she was on administrative leave with pay, but was afraid she might lose her job that she's held for 12 years, pending the outcome of the battery allegation.

According to reports, Simmons climbed on the bar at Jethro's, pulled the victim's hair and kicked her in the back. She also reportedly made obscene remarks to the Douglas County deputy investigating the disturbance at the Gardnerville Ranchos bar.

She told EnEarl she lives in Gardnerville and commutes to El Dorado County.

According to El Dorado County, Simmons is a not a sworn peace officer.
