Tahoe mobile home park manager promises to make good

The state tried unsuccessfully to send the former manager of the Tahoe Shores Mobile Home Park to prison for a probation violation on Tuesday.

Steven Kolesnik was accused of taking more than $100,000 from the park that he used to gamble. He paid $55,000 and agreed to pay an additional $9,000 when he was sentenced in 2005. Another $25,000 was paid by insurance.

Probation officers sought to have Kolesnik's probation revoked after he was essentially homeless for three weeks and admitted to consuming alcohol on two occasions. He was taken into custody on Jan. 6.

Judge Michael Gibbons pointed out that typically minor probation infractions are handled with a note.

Kolesnik promised to sell his carpet cleaning business and settle the rest of his debt.

"If I don't get out of debt, I won't have have a life," he said. "I'm going to sell everything I own."

Gibbons ordered him released.
