Kim Lee's, Tony's Deli, mixing it up

Kim Lee's Japanese Restaurant and Sushi Bar in Gardnerville gained a new manager/part-owner in Ken Reddick.

Formerly of Nicia Sushi in Spanish Springs and The Atlantis Sushi and Oyster Bar, Reddick, a master chef, brings 10 years of experience in Japanese, sushi and oyster bar cooking.

Besides a new oyster bar in the restaurant, additions to the menu include pan roast, a creamy New Orleans specialty with seafood of a customer's choice; old-world traditional scampi made with whipping cream and butter, sauteed from scratch, and San Francisco-style seafood Louies.

"The dressing (for the Louies) is made in-house with rich chili sauce and horseradish and pure whipping cream, and the use of fresh spring mix instead of plain lettuce really makes this dish outstanding," said Reddick's business partner Tony Pastini. "Ken has steamed clams, steamed mussels, panko fried shrimp, katsu chicken and kama hamachi on his new menu."

Kim Lee's Japanese Restaurant and Sushi Bar is located in the Scolari's shopping center next to Rite Aid. Business hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Pastini has also moved his Chicago-style eatery, originally part of Kim Lee's, to the Ironwood shopping center in Minden.

Tony's Original Chicago Deli offers burgers made from 95-percent-fat-free top sirloin, sandwiches on Gonnella crisp 6-inch rolls, Chicago-style hot dogs and Greek gyros.

Located at 1758 Highway 395, the deli also delivers. Business hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
