Dangerous spot

EDITOR:

I was a first responder (I was seconds behind the collision) at the head-on wreck that killed James Perry and seriously injured Ken Ceglia. I held Ken's head until paramedics arrived to prevent further injury to Ken's neck.

I also checked James during the incident. There was a woman that was comforting James during his death. She was stroking his arm and shoulder, as he was crushed into the steering column

I believe that both of us knew he was dying. I went back and forth to both victims and decided that Ken needed my help more than James. There was a medic who helped with Ken. I am a trained firefighter.

The place where the acccident happened is a dangerous spot on Highway 395 (turning into the Washoe offices) due to persons turning left with full speed traffic coming from behind.

Ken told me at the time that a car was turning left and James' car passed the turning car and hit him head on. I am not saying that James did try to pass. I am only passing on what a seriously injured Ken told me on what happened.

There needs to be a turn lane at the Washoe offices. I have seen many cars passing turning cars at that location over the double yellow line.
