How about Eagles and Ag for Christmas?

Staff Reports

If there's someone on your gift list who craves the unusual, loves wildlife and the outdoors plus has all the gear he or she needs, the Carson Valley Visitors Authority suggests securing them a place in next year's Eagles & Agriculture event. Eagles & Ag, now in its eighth year, provides a rare opportunity to view and photograph bald eagles and other raptors that come to Northern Nevada's Carson Valley every winter during calving season. The 2010 event is Feb. 19-21.

The heart of the weekend is the private Ranch and Eagle tour Feb. 20. As the guest of the ranches, you'll observe their operations up close and meet the men and women who run them. Attendees will learn about Carson Valley ranching and conservation and have the opportunity to observe birds of prey from vantage points not available to the general public. This is a once in a year opportunity for eagle viewing and photography. Following the tour, a sumptuous buffet lunch will be served with a group discussion on sightings allowing participants to compare experiences and observations with their fellow attendees. The tour and luncheon is being offered for just $60 per person and includes luxury motor coach transportation along with expert guides on Carson Valley history and wildlife.

Additional programs offered over the three days include the Birds of Prey lecture and reception on Friday night, Owl Prowl on Saturday afternoon, the Carson River raft/kayak tour, a two-day photography workshop and new for 2010, the Raptor Highway and Byway tour. Any would be a treat for wildlife lovers and the events are scheduled so that multiple tours can be taken.

A complete description of the programs available, including pricing, dates and times, reservation information and more, is available at www.visitcarsonvalley.org and reservations may be made at (775) 782-8207.
