The R-C Morning Report

The Tahoe Summit is 10 a.m. to noon at Round Hill Pines Beach in Zephyr Cove. Nevada Sen. John Ensign and Gov. Jim Gibbons are expected to attend, along with Douglas County commissioners and California officials. The event moves over to Edgewood Golf Course 12:30-2 p.m.

Today's county commission meeting is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. The economic development plan for the county is estimated to take an hour. They're also discussing the county's strategic plan and goal priorities. Commissioners meet in the Tahoe Transportation Center in Stateline.

While you wouldn't know it to look at it, Vista Grande between Topsy Lane and Clear Creek Road is about half washed out. A gasket connecting a fire hydrant to the water main blew out and washed the dirt out from under the road. I went by last night on my way to Indian Hills, and there doesn't appear to have any work done on it yet.

Today's the last of the clear hot days for a little bit, according to the National Weather Service. Expect the high to hit 95 degrees under clear skies. On Friday, we've got a 10 percent chance of thunderstorms increasing to 30 percent through the weekend. By Monday, the highs will have dropped into the upper 80s.
