Suspect set to plea in sexual assault of teen

A 35-year-old former Indian Hills woman is set to enter a plea Aug. 31 in District Court to a charge that she and her ex-boyfriend sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl.

Julie Lynn Fry-Cruz waived her preliminary hearing Wednesday in East Fork Justice Court and is to appear before District Judge Michael Gibbons in two weeks.

She and Donald J. Reynolds, 43, were arrested in June in Salt Lake City. They are being held in Douglas County Jail on $50,000 cash bail.

Reynolds asked for a continuance Wednesday and is to return to court on Aug. 26.

The incident allegedly occurred in April or May in Reynolds' apartment in Indian Hills.

Fry-Cruz told deputies that she and a 14-year-old girl were drinking when they started kissing, which led to the assault.

The girl told deputies that the couple gave her three alcoholic drinks, and that when she lay down in their bed, Fry-Cruz began having sex with her while Reynolds watched.

She told deputies she was not a willing participant.

Fry-Cruz and Reynolds were extradited from Salt Lake City.

They are each charged with sexual assault of a child under 16.
