Carson-Douglas livestock show results

by Leah McKinney Douglas County 4-H Livestock Project reporter, Special to The R-C

The Carson-Douglas Livestock Qualifying Show was April 11 at the new Fuji Park Fair Grounds in Carson City. The qualifier show is for all market animals that are supposed to go to the Nevada Junior Livestock Show in Reno on April 30 -May 3. All animals must get a red or blue ribbon to qualify. White ribbon animals cannot show at NJLS. There were market and showmanship classes and the judge was Vance Vesco. After the show, a potluck lunch was held where 4-H and FFA participants received awards sponsored by the Douglas County Farm Bureau.

We would like to thank the Farm Bureau for their on-going support of our livestock programs in Douglas County. Thanks also to our Douglas County 4-H livestock project leaders for all their help and dedication: Carson Valley Shepherds, Nita Vick; Beef Project, Todd Gansberg; Divine Swine, Skyler Zulian.

4-H is a youth development program of The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension. If you are interested in joining our livestock project or other 4-H projects, call 782-9960.
