Charles 'Bill' Haymart

A memorial service is 11 a.m. May 1 in Fair Oaks, Calif., for Charles "Bill" Haymart, 71, who died at his home in Gardnerville on March 28, 2009, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Born Nov. 25, 1937, in Fulton, Mo., to Alma and Charles Haymart, he was an avid horseman and loved the outdoors and trail riding in the Sierra.

An active member of the Reno Sierra Riders, Masters Trail Riders, and Sierra Trail Blazers, he was a riding member with the Sacramento County Sheriff's Mounted Posse during the 1980s and attended the 1984 inaugural for President Ronald Reagan in Washington, D.C. The sheriff's posse also performed in the Tournament of Rose's Parades in 1983 and 1985.

Mr. Haymart worked in underground construction in the Sacramento area for more than 39 years, including operating his own pipeline business for 10 years. Last year, he was recognized for 50 years of membership in the Operating Engineer's Local No. 3.

Mr. Haymart was preceded in death by his mother, father, and sister.

He is survived by his wife Kaytie of 49 years; son Scott (Debra); son Andrew (Julie); daughter, Kelly (Roger) Taylor; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

The memorial will be at New Life Community Church, 8101 Sunset Ave., Fair Oaks. Donations may be made to St. Mary's Hospice of Reno or the Cancer Society. Walton's Douglas county mortuary has been entrusted with his final arrangements.
