Supreme Court candidate to speak

Nevada Supreme Court candidate Kris Pickering will speak at the Douglas County Republican Women's regular meeting on Wednesday.

Pickering, 55, is a Las Vegas resident who grew up in Reno, where she graduated from Reno High School. She earned a four-year National Merit Scholarship to Yale. She attending law school at Georgetown University Law Center and the University of California, Davis, School of Law where she graduated in the top five of her class.

Pickering clerked for U.S. District Judge Bruce R. Thompson. She is a trial and appellate attorney, and is an adjunct faculty member for the UNLV School of Law.

Pickering faces Reno District Court Judge Deborah Schumacher in the November election.
