Tennis: Tiger girls hand Manogue first loss of season; TenBroeck suffers first career loss

The Douglas High girls' tennis team ran its record on the year to 4-2 overall, handing Manogue its first loss of the season in a 12-6 match in Minden Thursday afternoon.

Freshman Amelia Ritger swept the entire day with three perfect 6-0 sets. She has not surrendered a single game in her last 12 sets now.

Douglas' singles players were impressive across the board as Cesarina Ceglia picked up wins in her three sets and senior Clara Ritger won both of her sets.

The doubles team of Niki Hamzik and Marissa Delgadillo won all three of its sets and Sophie Lyles and Linsey Glass won their first round match to round out the Tigers' scoring on the day.

Freshman James TenBroeck suffered the first loss of his young high school career Thursday afternoon to regional favorite Philip Hinojosa of Manogue, 6-0.

He came back to pick up a 6-2 win in his second match of the day, however, to extend his record to 13-1 on the year.

The only other points on the day came from the doubles team of Spike Neri and Garon Athanacio, which swept its three sets Thursday.

Douglas dropped to 1-5 overall and 1-3 in Sierra League play on the year.
