A memorial service is 7 p.m. Thursday at FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home for 14-year Gardnerville resident Gerald "Jerry" Daniels, 69, who died Oct. 18, 2008, in Reno.

Born Sept. 8, 1939, in Tacoma, Wash., to Thomas and Irene Oberlin Daniels, he was a high school graduate and a sheet metal worker.

Mr. Daniels lived in Livermore, Calif., prior to moving to Gardnerville. He married Tina Nobriga on Valentine's Day 1997 in Virginia City. He enjoyed camping, fishing and working on his ranch.

He was preceded in death by sister Susan K. Oberlin.

He is survived by wife Tina; sons Steve (Marsha) Daniels of Michigan, Jeff (Kellee) Daniels of Washington; daughter Tracy McGuire of Washington; stepsons Mark (Jackie) Paudreris and Bart (Debbie) Padureris; brother Wendell (Roxee) Daniels of Washington; sister Sandra (Jack) Burrington of Idaho and 10 grandchildren.

A reception will follow the memorial service at the old P.D. Deli.

In lieu of donations, family members encourage mourners to imbibe in a shot of their choice in his memory.

A funeral service is 10 a.m. today at St. Gall Catholic Church for 47-year Carson Valley resident Esteban Iturri, 79, who died Oct. 17, 2008.

A rosary will be said at 9:30 a.m. before the funeral at the Gardnerville church.

Born Dec. 29, 1928, in Linzoain, Spain to Jose and Anizeta Iturri he came to the United States in 1948 at age 19 as a sheepherder in Elko where he spent five years herding sheep in the Ruby Mountains.

He moved to Genoa in 1961 where he worked for James Canyon Ranch and eventually became the manager for Meadow Gold Dairy for almost 18 years. He retired in late 1997 from the State of Nevada prison dairy. In 1998, he received a card from President Bill Clinton, which reads, "Congratulations on your retirement. You can be proud of your contribution to America's tradition of hard work, which has made our country strong."

Mr. Iturri is survived by his wife Aurora; daughter Aurora Dorotea; son and daughter-in-law Jose and Gabriela, and two grandchildren Natalia and Sofia.

A viewing is 4-7 p.m. today at FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home for Gardnerville resident Wanda Sophia Laskey, 93, who died Oct. 18, 2008 at her home.

Born April 7, 1915, in Chicago, she married Jerry Laskey in June 1936.

The couple started the first girls baseball league in the San Fernando Valley and became coaches and managers. She was involved with the Woodcraft Rangers for 20 years, Pakish Womens Alliance for more than 70 years and sponsored refugees from Poland.

She lived in Reseda, Calif., for 35 years before moving to Gardnerville in 2003.

Mrs. Laskey is survived by daughters Aurelia (Kerry) Scherf and Cammille (Paul) Howard and Barbara Abelle; eight grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren.

The rosary will be said 7 p.m. tonight. A second viewing will be held 4-7 p.m. at St. Francis Asissi Church in Van Nuys, Calif. A funeral is 10 a.m. Saturday at San Fernando Mission cemetery.

Donations may be made to the St. Francis of Asissi Chapel in Van Nuys, the Alzheimer's Association, or a favorite charity.

World War II veteran and 25-year Topaz Ranch Estates resident J.V. Robinson, 84, died Oct. 16, 2008.

Born Aug. 24, 1924, in Reinbeck, Iowa, to Erwin and Edith Robinson, he was a railroad engineer for Sante Fe Railroad for 32 years retiring in 1983. He moved to Topaz Ranch Estates from San Francisco.

Mr. Robinson was a U.S. Navy corpsman during World War II, who was involved in nine invasions.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a past member of the Elks Lodge.

Mr. Robinson was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Bobbie Robinson who passed away in 2003. They were married in 1961.

He is survived by son Chris M. Robinson and his wife, Donna of Huntington Beach, Calif.

At Mr. Robinson's request, there will be no service.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday at Corpus Christi Church in Carson City for former Gardnerville resident Margaret Mary Sullivan, 95, who died Oct. 16, 2008.

Born Oct. 20, 1912, in Leitormor, Ireland, to Martin McDonagh and Nancy (Connolly) McDonagh, she married Patrick J. Sullivan Nov. 11, 1939 in London, England.

During World War II, she worked in aircraft salvage, operating cranes and trucks. She moved to Boston in 1949 and to Phoenix in 1960, with her husband and two sons. She later lived in Klamath Falls, Ore., Paradise, Calif., Gardnerville and Carson City. Her favorite activities included cooking, sewing, dancing to and singing Irish music.

She is preceded in death by her parents, 11 siblings and infant daughter, Maureen.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Patrick; sons John (Barbara) and Michael (Chris); grandchildren Kristen, Maureen, Nora and Sean Patrick, and great-grandchildren Sean Riley, Charlotte and Owen.

Corpus Christi Church is located at 5335 Snyder Ave.
