A Gardnerville Ranchos man was arrested Wednesday after Douglas County investigators received a tip that he had a boat that beloned to someone else in his back yard.
Evan Dewitt Bower, 49, was taken into custody after officers found a 1988 Celebrity motorboat in the back yard of Bowers' Bowles Lane home.
According to the Sheriff's Office, the boat was reported stolen on July 21 from a home on Dresslerville Road.
The owner of the home had moved away for a short time leaving the boat in the backyard.
Investigators said Bower told them he took the boat from the yard after a friend told him it had been abandoned there.
Bower was booked into Douglas County jail in lieu of $20,000 bail for possession of stolen property.
