Nevada songs at Eddy Street

Chris Bayer presents "Songs from Nevada," 7 p.m. Saturday, at Eddy Street Book Exchange, 1225 Eddy St., Gardnerville.

Historian and musician Bayer performs songs and tells stories about Nevada's history and comes from a long line of saloon singers. He creates children's musicals and is the author of "Profit, Plots and Lynching" and "The Miner's Farewell," a study of Gold Rush songs and dance.

Minden

Carson Valley Inn entertainment

Mack 'n' Tom appear through Sunday and various duos entertain on Monday nights. Cabaret Lounge entertainment is presented with no cover and no minimum in 45-minute shows at 7:30, 8:30, 9:30, 10:30 and 11:30 p.m.

Mack 'n' Tom play classic rock 'n' roll from the '50s through the '80s plus contemporary tunes. The group is Bruce McCormack on keyboards and vocals and Tom Dickson on guitar and vocals. The two artists have played together for more than 10 years, many of them as part of the backup band for Louie Fontaine and The Rockets.

Rolland Dempsey takes the Cabaret Lounge stage Tuesday and plays until Oct. 19. Rolland Dempsey and his band present a mix of rhythm & blues, soul and contemporary pop music. Dempsey provides vocals and congas, Joel Edwards is on sax, Gary Douglas is on bass and vocals, Kevin Tokarz sings and plays keyboards and Brian Jenkins is on drums.

n Monday Night Football features sports viewing on giant plasma screens, draft beer and snack specials and drawings for prizes. The Carson Valley Inn is located on Highway 395 in Minden. Information at cvinn.com or 782-9711.


Oktoberfest and beer tasting Oct. 17

The Carson Valley Inn's annual Oktoberfest & Beer Tasting is 7-10 p.m. Oct. 17 in the Shannon Ballroom featuring a variety of beer, food and a live German band.

Enjoy a selection of ales, lagers, pilsners, stouts, traditional German and special Oktoberfest brews. Food stations will offer German favorites such as beer-steamed sausages, knockwurst, bockwurst, sauerbraten, pork loin, sauerkraut, German cold cuts, cheeses, potato pancakes, spaetzle, hot pretzel bar, German desserts and strudel.

The Al Gruber Band returns to play German tunes, lead singalongs and play the traditional Oktoberfest Chicken Dance. If you have some authentic German attire, feel free to wear it - a prize will be awarded for the best costume.

Music at Indigo

Acoustic Solution plays, 8 p.m. today, at Indigo Restaurant and Bar, 1665 Lucerne St. in Minden Village.

Acoustic Solution is John, Wendy and Seth Andrews who play eclectic folk and electrified acoustic music on a collection of instruments ranging from guitars, fiddle, mandolin, banjo, piano, percussion and drums. The band plays covers by Crosby, Stills and Nash, Van Morrison, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Grateful Dead, and original material.
