Volleyball: Douglas sweeps South Tahoe

The Douglas volleyball team cruised to its third win in as many days, sweeping the South Tahoe Vikings 25-11, 25-12, 25-22 at the Lake Thursday evening.


Many of the Tigers' starters got to rest after the first game, giving the rest of the roster a chance to shine.


Emily Garcia led the team in blocks with nine, Mia Townsell had 14 digs and three aces and Jackie Harper had 13 assists for the Tigers.


Jessica Waggoner had a team-leading seven kills, Jourdan Burke and Taryn Williams each had five, Jamie Lorntzen had four, Christine DuPuis had three and Garcia had two.


Waggoner chipped in seven blocks, Shannon Dugan and Williams each had four, Rebecca Antti, DuPuis and Harper each had three, Burke and Lorntzen had two apiece and Megan Mitchell and Bryanna Schinzing each had one.


Mysta Townsell had seven digs and Jordan Marsh had two digs and an ace for the Tigers (25-1, 6-0).
