Los Angeles fires destination for Sierra firefighters

Five Sierra brush engines are on their way to help fight wildfires in Southern California on Sunday.

East Fork Fire & Paramedic Districts Brush 7, stationed in the Gardnerville Ranchos, and three crew members have joined the regional strike team, according to the fire district.

East Fork Fire and Paramedic District personnel on the fire engine are Captain Troy Valenzuela, Firefighter/Paramedic Roy Minor and Firefighter Jamie Buck.

The other engines on the strike team are from the Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District, the North Lake Tahoe (Incline Village) Fire Protection District, El Dorado Hills Fire Department and Cameron Park Fire Department. A total of 18 personnel are on the strike team.

This strike team was a request from the California Office of Emergency Services to assist other California and Nevada fire resources working on the wind-driven fires of Southern California.

The team could be in Southern California for up to 14 days and it is anticipated that they will assigned to the "Freeway Complex" in Riverside/Orange/Los Angeles Counties.
