Old Glory takes center stage in photo contest

Staff Reports

Ray Moore won top honors in the Carson Valley Photo Club's monthly competition with a photo taken on a vacation and family reunion at Paul Revere's final resting place.

The photo shows an American flag resting atop the gravestone of the American hero, who died in 1818. The headstone is in the Granary Cemetery in Boston.

Judges said Moore's photo best fit the club's November theme of patriotism.

Tamyra Crossley took second place with "Our Boys," a rainy day parade photo of American troops marching with Old Glory. Crossley said it was the first time she had taken her children to a parade.

Ann Bothwell arranged several "We The People... I Voted Today" stickers atop an American flag, and won third place.

The club's 2009 officers are president Pat Stanley, vice president Pam Brekas, treasurer Tamyra Crossley, secretary Pricilla Forster and board members Ron Darr and Ray Moore.

The Carson Valley Photo Club meets 6:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month at Carson Valley United Methodist Church, 1375 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville. Information, Pat Stanley, 267-3651.
