Soroptimists International of Carson Valley held a luncheon on May 20 to honor this year's recipients of the Student Achievers Award.
Every year, students are acknowledged by the Soroptimists for overcoming adversity in their lives and turning their situations into a positive outcome by their choices. Teachers or counselors nominate students who fit the criteria and who they believe are deserving of the award and acknowledgment.
Six students each received a check for $100 along with a plaque acknowledging them for their hard work: Irma Gutierrez, Aubrey Leen, Adrian Marquez, Josh Peck, Michael Rojas, and Jesslyn Vick.
