Gerard Bussiere

1925-2008

A memorial service was Monday for 22-year Minden resident Gerard Bussiere, 82, who died March 12, 2008, in Gardnerville.

Born Oct. 16, 1925, in Cascade, N.H., to Albert and Antoinette Bussiere, he graduated from high school and was a veteran of World War II. After the war, he married Edith Schimming in Gorham, N.H., on Oct. 16, 1947.

Mr. Bussiere worked for American Airlines, starting out as a mechanic and being promoted to foreman. He lived in Orange, Calif., before moving to Carson Valley.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Jeremy Bussiere.

He is survived by his wife Edith of Minden; a daughter of Orange, Calif.; a son of San Pedro, Calif.; two sisters, Joan Whitcher of Melbourne, Fla., and Doris Johnson of Cocoa, Fla.; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild and nieces and nephews.

Capital Cremation is in charge of arrangements.

Harvey 'Skunk'

Jim Sr.

1935-2008

A memorial service is noon Saturday at the Dresslerville Gymnasium for Washoe Tribal Elder Harvey "Skunk" Jim Sr., 72, who died March 13, 2008, at his home in Gardnerville.

A member of the Washoe Tribe, Mr. Jim was born Aug. 29, 1935, in Dresslerville to Willie and Ada Jim in the family home.

Mr. Jim went to Stewart Indian School and then on to Haskell Indian College where he studied to become a plumber. He used his skills to work at Globins Water Co. in South Lake Tahoe. He later returned to Stewart Indian School as a maintenance engineer. He worked for the Washoe Tribe until his retirement. During his retirement he cared for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mr. Jim was an avid angler and loved to play softball, coached boxing and loved the outdoors. He loved to take long drives all over Nevada.

He was preceded in death by his sons Harvey Jr., Robert and Tim.

He is survived by his wife Marlene Brady; daughter Rhonda Jack; sister Eva James; 10 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members.

A viewing will precede the memorial service 10 a.m. Donations may be made to the family in lieu of flowers. Dinner will follow the service. Food donations are appreciated. FitzHenry's is in charge of arrangements.

Thomas H. Leonard

1958-2008

A memorial Mass is set for 11 a.m. March 25 at St. Gall Catholic Church in Gardnerville for Thomas H. Leonard, 50, of South Lake Tahoe.

Mr. Leonard died March 12, 2008, in Carson City. He was 50. He was born Jan 2, 1958, in New York City to Bill and Agnes Leonard. He moved to South Lake Tahoe 30 years ago.

Mr. Leonard was a carpenter and a member of St. Theresa's Parish, South Lake Tahoe.

He enjoyed watching his daughter Shelly's sporting events, and playing baseball and golf.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Mr. Leonard is survived by his daughter Shelly and her mother Lorraine Leonard of South Lake Tahoe, mother Agnes Leonard of Gardnerville, sons Jesse and David Boles, eight sisters and brothers, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Cremation took place at FitzHenry's Crematory in Carson City with inurnment at Happy Homestead Cemetery in South Lake Tahoe.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to Shelly Leonard's college fund. Checks should be made payable to American Funds, PO Box 25065, Santa Ana, Calif., 92799-5065 with the note "For Shelly Leonard, F.B.O. Account No. 82969875-204." FitzHenry's Carson Valley was in charge of arrangements.

Harry William

Edgar Jr.

1931-2008

Korean War veteran Harry William Edgar Jr., 76, died March 18, 2008, in Gardnerville.

Born Sept. 16, 1931, in Los Angeles, he lived in Gardnerville for 12 years.

A Navy veteran of the Korean conflict, Mr. Edgar was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Kathy Edgar; children Jennifer Richardson of Jasper, Ind., Pamela Edgar of Phillips Ranch, Calif. and Paul Edgar of Northridge, Calif.; sister Beverly Williams of Auburn, Calif.; and seven grandchildren.

At his request no service will be held. Arrangements are entrusted to Walton's Douglas County Mortuary in Minden.
