Little League All-Star tournaments start this weekend

The Carson Valley Little 9-10- and 10-11-year old all-star teams will be taking the field this weekend when the Nevada District I tournaments begin at South Valleys Regional Sports Complex in south Reno.


Carson Valley's 9-10-year-old All-Stars open pool play Saturday against Reno American West at 1:30 p.m. They'll take on Sparks National Sunday at 3:30 p.m., Reno National Monday at 5:30 p.m. and Washoe Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.


The single-elimination bracket begins Thursday and the tournament championship is July 6 at 3:30 p.m.


The 9-10-year-old roster includes Connor McKinnon, William Cassinos, Jacob Evans, Spencer Trivitt, Kindel Isham, Tanner Valenzuela, Daniel Owens, Cody Azevedo, Michael Mejia, Joey Jacobsen, Nolan Geth, Ben Nolting and Logan Fencl.


The team is coached Tim Jacobsen, Stacy Trivitt and George Mejia.


The 10-11-year-old All-Stars play South Tahoe Saturday at 4 p.m., Sparks National Sunday at 6 p.m., Reno Continental Monday at 8 p.m. and Carson American Tuesday at 8 p.m.


The elimination bracket begins Thursday and the championship game is July 6 at 6 p.m.


The 10-11-year-old roster includes Jordan White, Richard Simons, Cale Kynett, Dylan Sullivan, Zach Davies, Jared Rooker, Dilyn Rooker, Kaleb Foster, Matt Santos, Austin Dickey, James Herrick, Chase Johnson and Dillon Lopez.


The team is coached by Mike Davies, Teddy Foster, Mike Rooker and Chris Kynett.


The South Valleys complex is located at 15650 Wedge Parkway in Reno.


The 11-12-year-old All-Stars begin tournament play on July 5. The winner from that tournament will have a shot to qualify for the Little League World Series, but would have to win the state and regional tournaments first.
