In Carson: More arrests related to Carson City graffiti shooting

Two men sought in connection with a shooting early Saturday morning on Woodside Drive were arrested Monday afternoon on suspicion of attempted murder.

John Turner and Ricardo Llamas, both 19, were found just after 5 p.m. at an apartment in the 1300 block of North Edmonds Drive.

The two men had been sought by Carson City police since the 1 a.m. shooting at the Stanton Arms apartments on Woodside Drive.

According to Detective Daniel Gonzales, Llamas and Turner were among five men chased away from the complex by tenants who witnessed them attempting to tag a mailbox cluster with graffiti.

Gonzales said some tenants were outside their apartment when they heard a spray paint can rattling and saw five dark figures walking up to the mailboxes.

The tenants yelled at the group not to spray the boxes, and words were exchanged. Then the tenants chased off the group, said Gonzales.

About an hour later, as the son of one of the tenants was walking to throw trash in a complex trash receptacle, he heard a rustling on a fence that faces Fairview Drive.

Then he heard a gunshot. Gonzales said the investigation determined that Turner and Llamas were responsible for the shooting.

"The kid dives on the ground, and bullets are all flying all over. I don't know how he didn't get hit," Gonzales said.

Officers recovered shell casings and live ammunition from the scene.

Later, deputies located a distinctive vehicle described by witnesses and arrested two teens and Angel Perez, 23, in connection with the shooting.

During a search of Perez's home, a gun was allegedly located that matched the caliber of the bullets recovered from the scene, Gonzales said.

Both men were booked into the Carson City Jail.
