The R-C Morning Report

We're under a flash flood watch starting at 11 a.m. today. The chance we'll see rain in any given spot is 20 percent, but if it comes, it will come down at an inch an hour. The watch will last through this evening. The National Weather Service is saying thunderstorms will focus east of Highway 385 and will bring strong winds, frequent lightning and small hail.

Congratulations to Miss Carson Valley Christina Keegan, who was named first runner-up in the Miss Nevada Pageant in Reno on Friday night. Miss Carson City Juliana Erdesz, 24, won the title. Erdesz previously competed twice as Miss Reno and graduated from high school in the Biggest Little City.

A 42-year-old Gardnerville man will learn today if he is going to prison for up to five years or if he gets probation in the embezzlement of golf equipment from a shop. Darrell Eddy, 42, pleaded guilty to attempted grand larceny in connection with the theft of thousands of dollars of "high-end golf equipment." If he covers the owner's $5,000 insurance deductible, prosecutors will recommend probation. If not, he faces an up to $10,000 fine in addition to the prison term.
